Brains working towards machine consciousness

Dear Labour Party,

although we will be making swingeing cuts in the amount of votes you will be getting, you have to realise that this follows two elections where the British public have given you real increases in the number of votes over and above the levels you had in the 80s and 90s.  We know that you can continue in government with a massive cut in public backing, and perform better than ever before, because, apart from anything else, this is exactly what you expect from the HE and FE sectors, and you couldn't possibly be being disingenuous or hypocritical in any way.
